So I’m usually pretty bitter
Posted by geo on April 5th, 2005 filed in technologyReliable, fast Internet service seems to avoid me. When first I’m too far from the local CO to get the proper kind of service, then I’ve got an old router that doesn’t do routing properly. Then when trying to analyze the routing, and get a console cable working, it decides to release some of its magic smoke. Then my replacement router isn’t a new enough release to be supportable, and lo, $300 later, we’re back in business with a new router, and it appears all is well again.
In other news, it appears that I can get a new line run, and upgrade the service with a better download speed. It will also be cheaper. The only downside is that ADSL doesn’t come with the same support agreements since SDSL is technically “business class” service, according to the provider. I’ll need to think about that. More to come…

It took a couple years after we moved to our current place for anything other than ISDN to be available, and we weren’t *that* far out of Columbus. Then it took a good 9 months after cable became available for DSL to reach us. Crazy.
