With the idea of another machine incoming and a certain desire to remain firmly rooted in sanity, I decided to redo the wiring underneath my desk. In the past, say, 4 years, it achieved a certain Zen-like state of rat’s nest-edness. To unravel it would require the patience of a monk. Or, at least the flavor of one.

So instead, I ripped it all out, cleaned thoroughly, and started fresh. I quite literally found several cables that weren’t connected to anything. I also took the opportunity to get ready for the new wireless network by getting a hardware firewall router that we’ll hook the wireless network thinger to. It works out perfectly on the number of ports we have on the various devices/DSL modems/etc. Oh, another interesting fact. At my computer area, there are (or will very shortly be) 14 devices that require power connections. Amazing, that. Who knew.

Now I just need to get the rest of my desk stuff back to my desk. Its a shame really. Its so clean right now. OH! And another quick update from PowerBook land. Est.Ship date is 3/4/2005. All hail the gods of Singaporean apple employees, and expeditious shipping.
